Extracurricular Activities

FEA offers a variety of extra-curricular activities, including games and sports. In partnership with Amazing Athletes, we teach our students teamwork, diversity, responsibility, healthy competition, and a sense of community.

FEA’s outside play areas provide children with essential physical activity — a vital part of a well-rounded education.

Sly Park Environmental Education Center

Our 5th-grade class visits Sly Park for a week-long Science School, where they are immersed in learning experiences that include: astronomy, wall climbing, hikes, and California local history and geography.

STEM

Our science curriculum is enhanced with technology, engineering and mathematics integrated through project-based learning. It’s a blended approach that encourages hands-on experiences and gives students the chance to gain and apply relevant knowledge in the classroom.

MAP

FEA offers the Measure of Academic Progress, which is a computerized adaptive test that helps teachers, parents, and administrators improve learning for all students and make informed decisions to promote a child’s academic growth.

IXL

FEA offers IXL a personalized computer program with engaging, adaptive questions in over 7,000 standards-aligned skills. With a comprehensive K–12 curriculum, individualized guidance, and real-time analytics, IXL meets the unique needs of each learner.

Accelerated Reader

FEA offers A/C program which is a computerized program that tests reading comprehension. Students select books on their reading level, read independently, and take an independent comprehension test on the computer. Each book is worth a certain number of points based on its length and reading level. It helps our teachers guide kids to books that are on kids’ individual reading levels. Our students take short quizzes after reading a book to check their comprehension level.

School Club

The FEA Debate team took part in The Sacramento Elementary Circuit Competition, which was held on the 15th of December, 2019. Two teams represented FEA school in that competition, and the debate topics were :

  1. Homework does more harm than good
  2. The world needs nuclear power
  3. The voting age should be lowered to 16 YO.

One team won 4th place over 43 teams (by winning the three rounds), and the other won 16th place (by winning 2 out of the 3 rounds).

One of the team members got 1st place over 126 students in total and all the rest of the FEA debaters were in the top 30%.

School Club

The Creators Club is back at FEA after a 5-day adventure in Kansas City for Destination Imagination GLOBAL Finals!
They were ranked 15 out of 19 teams in a very competitive challenge from teams across the world. We couldn’t be more proud of them, mashaAllah!
This team gave it their ALL in both challenges they competed in, presenting how a virus attacks one’s body and how the body’s immune system fights back.

This year a total of 30 FEA students competed in Destination Imagination. Next year, we plan to increase those numbers and take even more trophies home, InshAllah!!!
